Get your dog licensed for 2011

What? Every year your dog needs to be licensed in the State of Maine. This year you will get a large red tag your dog needs to wear at all times when not on your property. This proves your dog has a current rabies vaccination and is the law.

How? Go to City Hall with the proper paperwork: your dog’s (s’) rabies certificate(s), proof from your vet that your dog has been spayed or neutered. Cost for a neutered male is $6.00 a year, for a spayed female is $7.00 a year.
If your paperwork is up to date you can get your license online directly: State of Maine Dog Licensing: and do it there!

Why? It is a State Law and the majority of the money goes to a fund to help animals who suffer abuse and neglect in Maine. The major purpose is to ensure animals have their rabies shots. Veterinarians now send the rabies certificates to the Department of Agriculture, so if you do not license your dog the State will send you a letter notifying you that your dog needs to be licensed or you will be fined.

If you have never licensed your dog before you can just do it now!

Have a wonderful time in the snow with your pooch!
